Wi-Fi QR code FAQ

Is it safe to put my Wi-Fi password in a QR code?

Anyone who scans the code can join, just like anyone you tell the password to. Use a guest network in public places.

Does it work for hidden networks?

Yes. Tick the hidden network option so phones know to look for it.

Which phones can scan it?

Current iPhone and Android cameras recognise Wi-Fi codes and offer to join with one tap.

Is this QR code generator free?

Yes. Static QR codes are free, with no sign-up, watermark or download limit.

Do static QR codes expire?

No. The content is stored in the code itself, so it keeps working as long as the print does.

Do you see what I put in my QR code?

No. Static codes are generated in your browser; nothing you type is sent to our servers.
